Arjun Main Battle Tank

Recently the Indian Army has received indigenously developed "Arjun Main Battle Tank" (MBT) "mk-1A".  These tanks will replace the old Arjun tanks. For the information, let us know that the role of tanks is more important in ground warfare.

India has t90 tanks t-72 and Bhishma tanks besides Arjun.  Bhishma is the only Indian version of the t90 tank.  The Indian Army has more than four thousand tanks.  The Indian Army is at number five in the world in this category.

Arjun Man Battle Tank has been developed by Defense Research and Development Organization ie DRDO

This project was started in 1972.  It is the third generation main battle tank (MBT), the first time the Indian Army ordered 124 Arjun tanks in 2010, this tank was incorporated by the Indian Army in 2004.  The Arjun tank is equipped with a 120 mm gun developed indigenously and has a piercing fin-stabilized descoring subort system.

What is DRDO (Defense Research and Development Organization)

The Defense Research and Development Organization undertakes war and armament development for India.  It is the R&B wing of the Ministry of Defense, Government of India.  This organization has worked to develop light combat aircraft for India- Tejas, multi-barrel rocket launchers- Pinaka, air defense system- Akash, radar and electronic warfare systems.  DRDO was formed in 1958 and since then it has also been doing research and innovation to strengthen the Indian Army here.

Why Tank Is Important In War ?

Because of the tank, the war fought on the ground has changed completely.  They were first used extensively during the Second World War.  India also used tanks in the 1965 war with Pakistan.  At that time India had Centurion tanks and Pakistan had Patton tanks.  The fin stabilized discoring subort system of the Arjuna tank identifies and destroys the enemy tank during the battle.
